Boris is in the zone

Jonathan Seager, Head of Housing Policy at London First welcomed the Mayor’s announcement that 50,000 new homes, across 20 new housing zones, will be created in London.

“Less than half of the homes we need each year are being built in London so anything that can be done to reduce planning barriers and get more homes built is good news.”

“But the key to unlocking the huge housing potential, whether in these zones or in other parts of London, is to get the supporting transport infrastructure in place.

“Good transport links, both within a local area and across London, give people the access they need to the city that in turn makes these places attractive to live in.

“Substantial new track capacity on the West Anglia main line will be needed this decade, particularly in the Upper Lee Valley, to spur on more house building.”
