Building London Week’s delegates are invited to join a breakfast briefing on the London’s digital future and the role of landowners and developers. London’s place at the top spot of digitally connected cities isn’t guaranteed, it depends on significant investment by private sector telecoms providers, but the industry alone cannot deliver the type of digital connectivity London will need to stay at the forefront of next generation technologies such as 5G. This will require the Mayor to champion digital infrastructure and work with the boroughs to overcome the inconsistencies, frictions and blockages in local planning and permit systems which slow-up deployment. This panel will look in more detail at the step-change needed to enable the deployment of fibre networks and tens of thousands of small cells and will consider the role of the Chief Digital Officer for London and landowners and developers in supporting deployment of digital infrastructure .
