Preventing, Interdicting and Mitigating Lone-Actor Extremism
After terrorist incidents in Nice, Berlin, Paris, Stockholm and recently London, attention has been refocused on attacks by so called lone-actor extremists. Based on findings from an EU-funded academic project, this briefing will look at the patterns of lone-actor radicalisation and how the phenomenon can be prevented or mitigated.
With case studies from Israel, the USA and the UK, the characteristics of the attacks and the perpetrators will be examined, as will attack planning sequences. The lessons for business and counter-terrorism advice from police under the Prevent programme will be outlined.
