Making Build to Rent Happen: A new Summit for the Private Rented SectorOctober 31, 2014
Over the past couple of decades, the private rental market has grown rapidly and organically, rather than as the result of an explicit public policy objective. As a result, approximately 25% of households in London are now housed in the private rented sector and it is the only form of tenure in London that is growing as a share of the total.
It is clear then that the Private Rented Sector (PRS) has enormous potential, both as an asset class and as a route to helping to solve the UK’s housing shortage. UK and Overseas Investors have massive funds available totalling £ tens of billions – but, there are some fundamental barriers to overcome if this market is to realise its full potential.
To explore how we can best ensure the capital brings bring PRS up to scale, London First – with the support of the Mayor of London – will host the inaugural PRS Forum, focusing on “The Challenge of Making Build to Rent Happen” on 27 January 2015. A combination of high profile expert contributors and a well-structured programme will enable delegates to explore solutions to issues including planning & policy, funding challenges and design and innovation.
