Mike Brown appointed MD of London Undergound (14 September)August 14, 2009
Business organisation London First has welcomed the appointment of Mike Brown as Managing Director of London Underground.
London First Chief Executive, Baroness Jo Valentine said:
“Mike Brown rejoins London Underground at a critical time. His biggest challenge is delivering modernisation for the long suffering passenger. London without the Tube upgrade doesn’t bear thinking about – cattle-class levels of crowding and unreliability would grind London to a halt. With the upgrade London’s economy can return to growth.
“Mike’s two immediate tasks are to negotiate the contract for the next phase of upgrade with Tube Lines before the general election, and securing taxpayer confidence in Metronet’s efficiency now that it is within Transport for London. Investing in the Tube is vital, but we must be able to see that every hard-earned pound is being sweated to the benefit of London.”
