Clean Tech Network
This London First network was set up to enable the development of new technologies that adapt to and/or mitigate climate change. The target audience is technology entrepreneurs, early and follow-on investors, industry R& D leaders and professional services.
London First is delighted to be working with Imperial College Climate Change Institute to develop this network, which was launched in autumn 2008 at an event, chaired by Professor Sir David King, former Chief Scientific Adviser to the Government.
Our focus
The network focuses on the generic business opportunities, and hurdles to growth and market access for companies developing clean technologies, irrespective of particular technology or application area, by:
• Building an international network of inventors, early and follow-on investors, end users and policymakers to encourage the growth of high tech companies in this sector
• Showcasing those companies that have developed, or are developing, technologies and products aimed at mitigating or adapting to climate change to investors and customers
• Highlighting the needs of the large end-users of the technologies to enable emerging companies to remain focused on market pull, rather than technology push when growing their businesses
• Raising awareness among network members of financing and business development opportunities to develop and/or get their products to market
• Debate possible government intervention policies that could expedite the deployment of such technologies
• Showcasing activities from elsewhere which represent business opportunities, best practice learning for the network’s members and position London as a centre of excellence and business in this sector
Targeted activities of the Clean Technology Network:
• Bi-monthly networking events for its members, including events in collaboration with other UK and international centres to promote business growth
• Development of an on-line members directory and forum to enable B2B activity
• Promotion of London’s excellence
• Development of an annual sustainability business conference
