Sir Peter Hendy to chair Network RailJune 25, 2015
Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin has announced that Network Rail, Chairman Richard Parry-Jones, will step down and be replaced by Transport for London Commissioner, Sir Peter Hendy.
David Leam, Director of Infrastructure Policy at London First, responded to the announcement, saying:
“London’s transport network has been transformed over the past decade under Sir Peter leadership.
“He has overseen the modernisation of the Tube, established the Overground network, and pushed through Crossrail. He is a savvy operator who thrived under both Boris and Ken.
“If he can do for the national railways what he has done for the capital that would be a significant result for passengers across the country.”
London First members can meet Sir Peter Hendy at our event on 16 July where he will set out the case for investment in London’s transport infrastructure in the upcoming spending review. This will be followed by a Q&A session and drinks reception.
