Politicians gather to support airport expansion

With just eight weeks to go before the General Election, it is critical that supporters of airports expansion rally together to demonstrate to politicians of all parties that this is an issue of strategic national importance.

With this in mind, the Let Britain Fly Parliamentary Reception brought together politicians, business leaders and other key stakeholders in the Skyloft on the 28th floor of Millbank Tower, to galvanise parliamentary support for airports expansion.

The evening featured addresses by leading Parliamentarians from across the political spectrum, including:

  • Louise Ellman, MP for Liverpool Riverside and Chair of the Transport Select Committee;
  • Graham Brady, MP for Altrincham & Sale and Chair of the 1922 Committee;
  • Stephen Gilbert, MP for St Austell and Newquay and Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Regional Aviation.

With the Airports Commission’s Final Report expected to be published in July or August, the Government of the day should be in a position to make a quick decision on expansion. Let Britain Fly will work hard to ensure that politicians of all parties have the courage to make Sir Howard’s recommendations a reality.
