Rental Deposits Loan Scheme

London First members may remember that late last year we held a briefing with Deputy Mayor Richard Blakeway on the Greater London Authority’s Rental Deposit Loan Scheme, which was under development in partnership with housing charity Shelter.

The initiative will allow employees to take out an interest free loan from their employer to cover the cost of a tenancy deposit when moving into a privately rented home, helping to alleviate some of the initial financial pressure of renting a property in the capital.

The details of the scheme have now been finalised, and it will be formally launched by the GLA and Shelter, in conjunction with a major UK business on Tuesday 3 February. To attend the launch, or for more information on the details of the scheme, please contact Shelter directly.
