Size and design guidelines for London homes – commentJuly 8, 2009
Business comment on Mayor’s launch of a consultation today of proposed guidelines on the size and design of new publicly funded homes in the capital.
A spokesman for London First said:
“In today’s market the Mayor and local authorities should be doing everything they can to encourage new housing and commercial development, rather than installing new barriers. Nevertheless, we welcome the Mayor’s stated willingness to apply the guidelines flexibly, so that developments with much else to recommend them remain viable. If a young family were to be offered the choice between moving into a modern housing association apartment or continuing to share a family house with in-laws, many would choose the former, even if it didn’t quite meet Boris’s proposed guidelines.”
