Baroness Jo Valentine, Chief Executive of business organisation London First, said:
“The Government has seen the light on Thameslink. With overcrowding on the existing route already unmanageable, there can be no argument about the need for investment. The Thameslink project could deliver real capacity increases by 2012, en route to a doubling of passenger capacity for journeys to and from Farringdon, Blackfriars and London Bridge, by 2015. If London businesses are to continue to grow, contribute more in taxes and provide more new jobs, they need Government to invest in more transport capacity. Investment in Thameslink, along with the long overdue Crossrail east-west London link, will go some distance to improving the capital’s rail network.”
