In his new role as Editorial Director Kamal is responsible for shaping the BBC’s future editorial strategy, focusing on storytelling and explanatory journalism, and providing the link between audience research and BBC output.
Kamal was formerly the Economics Editor at the BBC as well as the Business Editor of BBC News. Prior to that, Kamal was the Political Editor of The Observer, Business Editor of The Sunday Telegraph and Director of Communications at the Equality and Human Rights Commission. He has also recently published a book on race and identity in Britain, called The Life and Times of a very British Man.
