Government must commit to infrastructure funding to tackle London’s persistent “crush hour”

Crossrail 2 and upgrades to the Piccadilly and Bakerloo lines are critical
Commenting on the latest overcrowding statistics released by the Department for Transport today, London First’s Director of Connectivity and Competitiveness David Lutton said:
“London’s commuters suffer worse overcrowding than anywhere else in the country as capacity trails behind demand, and delays and station closures take their toll.
“To tackle London’s persistent crush hour, the Government should commit to putting the National Infrastructure Commission’s recommendations into practice by spending a minimum of 1.2% of GDP on infrastructure, including on Crossrail 2. Upgrades to the Piccadilly line and the Bakerloo Line extension are also critical to keeping our capital moving.”
