London First, the capital’s leading business campaign group, has announced that Nneka Orji has joined its board with immediate effect.
Nneka will join other senior business leaders on the board at a critical time for the capital, helping to ensure the business group has maximum impact as the city recovers from COVID-19. She joins other Board members, including former head of the Equalities and Human Rights Commission, Dame Nicola Brewer, Sarah Sands, former Today programme editor, Dame Inga Beale, former Chief Executive of Lloyd’s of London; Dr Alan Belfield, Chairman, Arup Group, and Nigel Wilson, Group Chief Executive, Legal & General.
Nneka is Chief Operating Officer at Morrinson Wealth, where she has managerial responsibilities for the firm’s Operations, Strategy & Innovation, Compliance, and People and Culture. Previously Nneka worked in consulting with Deloitte, and since 2012 has been a Mentor with the Social Mobility Foundation, and previously with the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women and Amos Bursary. A passionate champion of improving social mobility, Nneka is also a supporter of Women of the Future and Inspiring the Future.
Paul Drechsler, Chair of London First, said:
“I am delighted to welcome Nneka to the Board.
“Her experience and passion for London will be hugely valuable as we work to ensure the capital bounces back quickly from COVID-19 to maintain its crown as the best city in the world in which to invest, work, live, and enjoy.
“Nneka is a passionate champion of social mobility and inclusion, hugely important issues for London First and the success of our capital.”
Nneka Orji added:
“I’m delighted to join the London First Board. The capital faces challenges like never before as it looks to the future beyond Covid. I look forward to working with the London First team in shaping a positive and inclusive future for all Londoners to keep the capital the best place to do business in the world.”
Formed in the 1990s, London First has been at the forefront of identifying solutions to the capital’s challenges. It was instrumental in creating the role of Mayor of London and the capital’s first Chief Digital Officer, as well as establishing the educational charity Teach First. More recently, London First has set out the steps needed to support the recovery and to get people back onto public transport. The organisation holds seats on both the Mayor’s Recovery Board and the Government’s Transition Board, to co-ordinate London’s immediate response as it emerges from COVID-19 lockdowns, and to help shape the economic recovery for the long term.
