Dame Inga Beale
Dame Inga Beale was appointed to the London First Board in December 2018 and is now Deputy Chair. She also has non-executive roles on the boards of Clyde & Co, Crawford & Company, and Mediclinic International. Her philanthropic interests include being a member of the Pitt Rivers Museum Advisory Board at Oxford University.
Prior to this she spent 37 years in the insurance sector. Her most recent appointment was five years as Chief Executive Officer of Lloyd’s of London, the 330-year-old global insurance and reinsurance market.
Earlier roles included Group CEO of Canopius, an insurance company with its principal operations at Lloyd’s; a member of the Global Management Board of Zurich Insurance Group in Switzerland; Group CEO of Swiss reinsurer Converium; and a variety of international leadership positions for GE Insurance Solutions based in the UK, USA, France and Germany. She started her career as an underwriter with Prudential in London.
She was awarded her Damehood in 2017 for services to the UK economy and for playing a critical role in advancing diversity and inclusion initiatives across the global insurance sector, including the Dive In Festival – the only sector-wide diversity and inclusion festival in the world.
Dame Inga studied Business Studies at Newbury College and is a Chartered Insurer. She qualified as an Associate of the UK Chartered Insurance Institute in 1987.
