London needs a sustainable, inclusive public transport network to keep our city moving.
As we recover from the Covid-19 pandemic, a premature cut in the frequencies of public transport could lead to more congestion, poorer air quality and make it harder to decarbonise the transport network.
London TravelWatch and London First are bringing together a coalition of organisations to make the case to Government that Transport for London must receive adequate funding in the next finance deal so that service levels of public transport should not be cut prematurely.

Funding for London’s transport system must:
- Enable sufficiently inclusive, affordable, and frequent bus, train and Tube services so
that public transport use can increase, especially as London recovers from the pandemic
and patterns of demand change;
- Incentivise efficient, safe and reliable transport services;
- Helps the capital to achieve its net zero and clean air goals;
- Provides medium-to-long-term certainty so that the capital investments London needs
can be planned and developed; and
- Maintain Transport for London as an integrated transport authority with the independence to make operational decisions and renewals investments.
