Big Creative Academy is pleased to announce our new partnership with Business LDN, the capital’s leading business campaign group. Working together we will address the challenges of the capital’s labour market and skills system.
Our intent at Big Creative Academy is to provide young creatives from diverse backgrounds with the academic knowledge and entrepreneurial skills to have a powerful impact in the creative industries. Through access to higher education and the development of cultural capital we provide students with the attitude and resilience to succeed.
Business LDN is leading the London Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP), a Department for Education-led initiative that brings employers, educators and other key stakeholders together to create a blueprint to ensure that training and education matches the needs of the economy. As London’s largest creative arts college we are pleased to be part of the conversation to shape the development of a successful LSIP for the capital, and ensure that our curriculum offer is responsive to the needs of employers, the creative sector and provide a clear line of sight to work for our students.
The creative arts is a priority sector for London’s LSIP and Big Creative Academy is very industry focused with a number of Industry ambassadors helping us to deliver our courses. We welcome the opportunity to discuss greater partnership working between educators and employers to address skills shortages and, particularly, inclusion for disadvantaged groups to diversify the workforce of the creative sector. Both our young people and employers will benefit from greater access to industry and the talent our young people have.
With a focus on developing talent, transforming lives and creating careers, Big Creative Academy provides high quality training for young people to work in the creative and digital sector. Listening to employers, there is an emphasis on young people having more transferable skills, such as project management, problem solving and negotiation and these are embedded into all of our courses. Careers education and skills development sits at the heart of our curriculum offer, and all students work collaboratively on projects replicating the exciting and diverse creative sector, learning from our industry partners and showcasing their talents to a range of employers.
We have an employer advisory board who assist us in maintaining an up to date study programme and we always want to hear from businesses who wish to support us with our curriculum development, provide mentoring, work experience and be role models and advocates for the next generation of young creatives. If you’d like to be involved, please get in touch with us.
We look forward to working with Business LDN and their members to develop the next generation of young creative talent, improve opportunities for young people to access the London labour market and remove barriers allowing them to flourish and succeed.
