Responding to the latest GDP figures, muniya barua, deputy chief executive at businessldn said:
“Although the economy has narrowly returned to expansion, it’s disappointing that the Chancellor missed opportunities in his Spring Budget to help Britain out of its low-growth trap.
“Reinstating VAT-free shopping for international visitors would have boosted the high street. A multi-year funding settlement for TfL would have helped to keep the capital moving and supported jobs across its UK-wide supply chain. And more funding clarity for childcare providers would have helped firms to recruit and retain staff by releasing the untapped potential of many parents and carers.
“All parties must prioritise measures that will deliver growth as we prepare for a general election later this year.”
